Wednesday 3rd of May a beautiful sunny day so crack on outside.

Time to start the Scammell up but flat battery wins so on charge, Greg has fitted the new O ring to the oil filter as the original had damage on the surface and would not seal fully..

Success no oil drip when running but it only ran a short time then fuel separation got the better of the carb so drain the fuel out we also cleaned the jets again and assembled them with this antique petrol tap anti seize lubricant. If it was good enough for aeroplanes it will work for us but it took some careful unwrapping.

Whilst on the scammel somebody had kindly left a GWR and train artefact on the petrol tank these had obviously been dug up from somewhere as they were full of earth and dirty..

After a good wash and clean the GWR 4 pen ink well looks good.

The Wigan carriage plate had a light shot blast, heated up then immersed in old engine oil before a stiff wire brushing and a coating of lanolin.

A first world war warning rattle needed the plywood regluing as it had separated and was fragile. Plenty of wood glue put between the sheets than clamped tight.

It was then scammel cab time ready for the Gala weekend so a rub down of the front body and repaint of the dash before refitting all the id and instruction plates.

A hasp was painted and fitted to the AA box ready for the oil light and chord to go in

Some more tools were put into the Foss Cross building

Gregg was making and fitting a replacement window sill to Taylors office building

The scammel now running and warm was taken to the station yard by Gregg and parked next to the honeybourne signal box ready for the gala weekend
